Below is a list of all the services that we provide to the animals that we catch.  Further medical treatment is based upon the status of the cat post exam.  

Spay/Neuter

All cats that are not spayed or neutered already when trapped, immediately get scheduled for immediate spaying and neutering.  Thanks to our connections, we have not had to deal with unwanted and preventable litters of kittens as we get our un-neutered and un-spayed kitties this surgery right away.  The surgery is safe, fairly quick, and prevents over a hundreds of unnecessary births of litters on the streets.  Litters born outside often rarely 100% survive and most kittens suffer a traumatic and often violent death in the Las Vegas environment.  

General Exam and Wellness Check

All cats receive a general exam and wellness check.  This is where our veterinary contact checks the cat's overall health, dental needs, temperatures, weight, provide nail trims, and express anal glands.  Thanks to these wellness checks, our rescue cat Yogi was found to have a very large polyp in his left ear which was removed.  If that would've remained and burst, he had the potential to die of his wound and lose his ear to infection.  This allows us to see first and foremost the overall status of our rescue cats.  

Vaccinations

Every cat is given a FVRCP (3+1 Vaccine) along with a Rabies vaccine when trapped.  This way no matter if they are released back outside or adopted out, all cats are in preventative care for major illnesses. 

Microchipping

Every single cat we trap gets scanned for a microchip.  While we haven't trapped one that has, if they do have a chip, we work to track down an owner.  ALL unchipped cats receive a microchip implant that allows us to label our cats under our rescue name.  This is so if any of our cats get picked up by animal control or on the street, we will get contacted to pickup.  No matter how feral the cat is, every cat receives a microchip and gets registered. 

Combo Testing

All cats are combo tested. This means that we take a small blood sample and get it tested to make sure cats do not test positive for Feline Leukemia or Feline AIDS. If a kitty tests positive, they are not rereleased back outside and will get scheduled for a procedure to remove their fangs (the primary way to transfer the disease). After their surgery, they will live the rest of their life inside. 

Dental Work

All cats when examined will receive a dental check-up.  Any cats that need extractions will get surgeries scheduled and get any rotten, infected, or inflamed teeth pulled.  One of our first rescues Waffles who is as friendly as they come needed to get all his teeth extracted.  He had one fang fall out and his others were sticking out into his upper lip.  Getting his teeth extracted gives him a whole new life pain free!

Emergency Grooming

Some cats that come in have come rough looking coats.  Cats that are withstanding the environment get chemicals, tar, twigs, and much more stuck in their fur.  This often makes their fur matted down to the skin.  We have been fortunate to only have two cats have to get fully shaved down, but when they get shaved down, they get a fresh start to feel free and grow in a fresh and healthy coat.
